Hi everyone,
I'm the kid who joined you in sixty four from Central High School. That's right, they threw me out there too. My piano trio played for you kids and I astonishingly received the Thom Hartig Music award.
After graduating the trio including Teri Russeth r.i.p.(class of 65) performed for the Aquatennial. The Jazz trio went on to winning second place in the Jackie Gleason Talent Search that year !
After basic training at Ft. Leonardwood in 1965, I graduated from the U.S. Naval School of Music, spent a year with the 5th. Army Band before being shipped to the 4th. Infantry Division in Pleiku Vietnam.
At Camp Enari, we shared patrol and guard duty with headquarters co, motor pool and chemical platoon. On February 8th. at 3am the rockets starting coming in for Tet. it was on after that. I spent 45 days touring the country in a Huey playing in forward firebases from the delta to Da Nang.
After Vietnam, my bride and I moved to Denver and before long I was opening and playing the Supremes at Red Rocks show after which we moved to L.A., where for 16 years I had all the fun I could stand playing for and with other luminaries including Mel Carter, Bobby Caldwell, Joanie Summers, Brenda Lee, Carol Channing, Walt Disney Studios, Mattel, The New York Shakespeare Festival and the Los Angeles Music Center.
We moved to Northern California in the mid eighties and have experienced a wholesome life where our two girls and two grand kids are still thriving. I spent ten years in finance and fifteen years teaching and am now cruising . . .
God has been good and I continue to record a library of what I consider to be valuable from the culture of 20th. Century America. As a steward of music I serve us all.
You were important to me in more ways you could know. You made me feel welcomed and nourished by my experience of America at her best. You still are . . the Best !
